Our goal is to provide a Montessori environment and education, for ages 2.5y-6y. Our program includes Preschool and Kindergarten, as well as all day childcare. Young children have an amazing ability to learn in ways that adults cannot. An intimate environment allows the children to have the added bonus of being treated in a loving and safe manner, and your child will receive quality personal and individualized care. We believe in the Montessori philosophy and the impact it has on infants and young children, building a positive self-image from the start. The activities your child will engage in will teach the skills of practical life, understanding their senses, learning their language through speaking, writing, and reading, as well as math, science, and geography.
A big part of our daily routine, is the morning work period. "Play is the work of a child," Maria Montessori said. In our work period every morning, the children choose activities to play with, some independently and some with a partner or small group. During this time there is a noticeable flow of concentration, independence, control of movement, and order amongst the children. Lessons are given by the teachers as we guide them through the progression of difficulty and their skill increases.
“A child who has become master of his acts through long and repeated exercises, and who has been encouraged by the pleasant and interesting activities in which he has been engaged, is a child filled with health and joy and remarkable for his calmness and discipline.” - Maria Montessori
A Montessori Guide is the role of the adult in the Montessori classroom, commonly known as a teacher. They are trained on the philosophy and materials of a Montessori classroom and respectful interactions between all individuals are modeled. The environment consists of more than just the activities you see, the teachers/guides are trained on a specific style of classroom management that allows the child to learn for themselves rather than be taught or shown what it is they are learning. We allow the child to make discoveries and we guide the child to further their understanding. Through this approach, the young, developing mind establishes a desire for exploring and learning what is all around them.
“She (the teacher) must acquire a moral alertness which has not hitherto been demanded by any other system, and this is revealed in her tranquility, patience, charity, and humility. Not words, but virtues, are her main qualifications.” - Maria Montessori
